STEM forward with SCWIST – to meet global challenges and opportunities

The Society for Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) has been advocating for gender equality in STEM for over 40 years. With 80% of jobs in the next decade requiring some knowledge of STEM, it’s important to fully utilize all talent available. SCWIST offers a variety of programs to support girls and women in STEM career pathways, including mentorships, workshops, networking events, job boards, career fairs, and advocacy work.

NEM 2023 Interview Series – Hatch

Andrea Cherry, a Mechanical Engineer in Training at Hatch, believes that incorporating diverse and inclusive design (D&I) into projects can create a better environment for everyone. She works on a variety of projects and is a member of the Diversity and Inclusion committee and Gender Equity cluster at Hatch. Andrea emphasizes the importance of National Engineering Month (NEM) and lifelong learning in the engineering profession. Hatch has over 9,000 employees across numerous offices and works in over 150 countries, with projects focused on metals, energy, and infrastructure. Diverse and inclusive design is essential in today’s world to ensure solutions are inclusive to a wide variety of users.
