All NEM Ontario events will continue to focus on lifelong learning. In these times of great adaptation, nothing is as powerful as practicing how to learn and expanding our perspectives as a community.

The European Commission defines lifelong learning as: “All purposeful learning activity that is undertaken throughout life with the aim of improving knowledge, skills, and competencies within a personal, civic, social and/or employment-related perspective.”

NEM Ontario events are geared toward interdisciplinary students & professionals as well as seasoned professionals in the engineering and technology communities.

Last year’s events were approximately sixty-to-ninety minutes long.

NEM Ontario events typically happen Monday – Friday throughout March. There are multiple event start times each day. These are typically 8:00 am, 12:00 pm & 6:00 pm. If your event falls outside of these times, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The Student Impact Challenge is an annual competition that happens throughout National Engineering Month. Post-secondary students enrolled in engineering degree programs throughout Ontario compete for a chance to win cash prizes. The challenge encourages students to make a positive difference through engineering, tackling real-world challenges across environmental sustainability, health, accessibility, and technology. With $5,000 in total prizes, the challenge not only inspires innovative problem-solving but also fosters community impact and awareness of engineering’s role in shaping a better future.

Prize amounts are as follows:

  • First place $4,000
  • Early bird entry cash prizes ($200 for the first 5 teams to register)

When each event has a firm timeslot, event leaders will be notified and 50% of the requested funding will be shared. In April, you’ll receive the remaining 50% of your funding in exchange for answering the post-event survey.

We have a dedicated team of event and marketing specialists that are there to support you. You can also access free tools, templates and guides on the resources section of our website.

In February and March, our marketing team will share events on the NEM Ontario website and social media channels. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn or search our content using the #NEM2025 hashtag.
