Do you have a question about National Engineering Month (NEM) Ontario? We’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions and answers to help guide you along the way. General Questions

Engineering and technology are about more than building bridges and memorizing formulas. Engineering and engineering technology professions are collaborative, creative, and leverage communication skills to solve humanity’s wicked problems; turning ideas into a reality and making a difference.

Learn more about leading a NEM Ontario event

During the month of March, across Canada, the engineering and technology community lead events to celebrate and support one another.

NEM Ontario works with partners & volunteers across the province to hold professional development events that are specifically designed for the engineering community. Each week in March will focus on a different topic area: 

  • March 1: P. Eng. Day: Celebrate licensed engineers and their contributions to society by sharing stories and engaging in discussions about the profession.
  • Week 1 (March 3–9): Emerging Engineering Disciplines: Delve into the exciting fields that are pushing the boundaries of engineering and shaping tomorrow’s technology.
  • Week 2 (March 10–16): Empowered Growth & Learning: Expand your horizons with events focused on skill development, career growth, and fostering an inclusive engineering community.
  • Week 3 (March 17–23): Environmental Sustainability: Explore the latest green engineering projects and practices that are driving positive change for a sustainable planet.
  • Week 4 (March 24–31): Infrastructure & Innovation: Discover how cutting-edge technologies and engineering innovations are shaping the future of our cities and communities.

Event leaders will continue to have the flexibility of offering their events in person, online, and in hybrid formats. 

 

You can get involved with NEM Ontario in four ways. You can:

  4. Engage with us on social media using the #NEM2025 hashtag or join our mailing list for the latest updates.

Being part of NEM is an opportunity to share your passion for engineering with diverse students and young professionals; to widen their perceptions, build their curiosity and help them feel a sense of belonging within these professions.

I want to attend an event

NEM Ontario events are held in person, online and hybrid formats. Check each event individually for more information

The event calendar for NEM Ontario events will be posted by mid-January. Join our mailing list or follow us on social media to get the latest updates. 

Stay tuned to our calendar of events page and explore events led by our amazing volunteers. To find out more about an event, click the + below the event date and read the description. To reserve your spot, click the <<attend>> button and fill out your registration. You will be emailed the Zoom link and it’s recommended to copy the link directly into your calendar.  

Most NEM Ontario events are free to attend and you can attend as many NEM Ontario events as you like. We hope you will show your support for the engineering & technology community and attend as many events as possible.

I want to lead an event

You can submit your event leader application online through our website. 

Anyone with a passion for engineering & technology can apply to lead a NEM Ontario event.

That is totally up to you, however we do recommend that they fall within the theme of lifelong learning. Visit the lead an event page to learn more and apply. 

I want to become a partner

We are always looking for partners that want to invest in the future of Ontario’s engineering & technology community. Past partners include: Humber College, the University of Waterloo, ACEC-Ontario and many more. To get more information please visit our partner page.
