In 2004, senior building science engineer Lou Reginato founded Pretium along with senior structural engineer, Larry McCuaig. They set out to elevate the engineering services of the C3 Group by launching Pretium Engineering, leveraging their in-depth knowledge and experience in building science.
To this day, Pretium Engineering Inc. (Pretium) is a specialist building science, mechanical, electrical, and structural consulting engineering firm that provides high-quality, evidence-driven services including Building and Structural Restoration, New Construction, Energy and Carbon Reduction, Mechanical Engineering, Assessments and Capital Planning, and Specialty Testing.
At Pretium, we own our solutions and never back away from a building science or construction problem. Our dedication to customer satisfaction never waivers, and we have a 20-year track record to back up our promise to our clients. With thousands of projects completed, we’ve seen (almost) everything from historic brick and mortar to nano coatings and smart glass.
Through training and mentoring we ensure a continuity of quality across every client engagement. From project principals to project coordinators, our team has the engineering fundamentals, technical knowledge, and project management skills to deliver the appropriate solution to every problem.

Working Together, Better
We are different by design. Through a matrix organization structure, we provide a collaborative workplace rich in knowledge sharing and free of barriers between offices and service areas.
Rotational Leadership: We believe a dynamic, growing company thrives on diverse opinions and fresh energy in leadership. At Pretium, Leadership Team roles, from Team Managers to President, are “term” positions. Qualified team members apply each term, presenting their vision for the role. A selection committee interviews candidates and chooses the best fit. This approach fosters new leadership and innovative ideas. With leaders focused on specific objectives within a set timeframe, the entire organization benefits.
Career Tracks: We offer both Project Management and Technical Career Streams, recognizing that while all team members need technical excellence and client interaction skills, they have unique strengths. Some excel in client service management and financial literacy, while others thrive in technical specialization and complex problem-solving. Our Career Streams empower team members to focus on their strengths and core interests.
Opportunities for Growth: We ensure all team members have access to technical leaders while breaking down barriers to growth and avoiding silos. Team members have a primary service area, but there are significant opportunities for cross-training between service areas. We also support sharing expertise with technical and industry organizations. Many team members serve as directors, join standards committees, and speak at industry events. As thought leaders, they make a lasting impact on the fields they are passionate about.
