Tatham Engineering takes great pride in shaping the communities its employees call home. As a firm operating in smaller regions north of Toronto – including Simcoe County, Muskoka, Parry Sound, and more recently, Ottawa and Guelph – staff at Tatham witness firsthand how their work improves everyday life for their family, friends, neighbors, and fellow community members.
For many at Tatham, engineering is more than a profession – it’s a way to make a lasting impact on the communities they live, work, and enjoy life in.
Technologist Morgan Eaton grew up in The Blue Mountains and always felt a connection to the area. While completing the Civil Engineering Technology program at Mohawk College, she completed two co-op placement terms at Tatham’s Collingwood office before joining as a full-time employee upon graduation.
“There’s something special about working on projects in places I have become so familiar with throughout my life,” she shares. “I get to see designs go from concept to construction and then to completion, knowing they will continue to serve the community for years to come.”
Tatham’s Executive Vice President Bill Van Ryn grew up in the country south of Collingwood and joined the firm in 1989 as it’s 11th employee. Over the years, he has helped shape the company’s growth, including spearheading the opening of the Bracebridge office in 1998.
Having lived and worked in Muskoka for over two decades, he has seen how the District has evolved and how thoughtful engineering supports its future.
“Raising my family and building my career in the same community has been incredibly rewarding,” he shares. “I’ve had the privilege of working on countless projects that support local families and businesses in Muskoka and Parry Sound. Seeing all this firsthand is what makes this work so fulfilling.”
The ability to make a tangible difference is a driving force for Tatham’s staff. Whether improving infrastructure to support a growing population, designing bridges to connect communities, or implementing solutions that protect Ontario’s natural landscapes, every project contributes to a stronger shared future.
Tatham’s deep ties to these regions also provide a unique understanding of the challenges local communities face. Winter conditions, complex and unique landscapes, and the need for sustainable development all shape Tatham’s approach.
By combining technical expertise with local knowledge, Tatham creates solutions that impact our communities on multiple levels – supporting economic growth, environmental sustainability, and quality of life for Ontarians.
