WinSETT Centre will host and facilitate a virtual community learning event marketed to the engineering community in Ontario. The event will provide a chance for women in engineering to connect with other women in engineering across the province, as well as some allies, reflect on their shared experiences, give each other a little well-deserved encouragement and support and grow their understanding of the importance of mentors and sponsors. Women can often find themselves as ‘others’ in predominantly male-led workforces, affecting everything from morale to career advancement. This session will discuss the practices of mentorship and sponsorship and how participant’s careers can benefit. WinSETT will help participants develop an understanding of difference between mentorship and sponsorship and how to connect and build a network of professional support.
