Lakehead University Undergraduate students of any program will have the opportunity to form teams of up to 4 and enter the “Design-a-Thon”. Groups will be given materials on March 8th, and can take the week to build anything they can think up, as simple or as complicated as they want. Some examples are a bridge, a tower, a dog treat dispenser, a propeller boat, a pair of shoes, a catapult, a car, or even an art piece! Groups will then pitch and showcase their designs on March 15th from 3-7pm, and can win cash prizes. Our goal for this event is to celebrate NEM and the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering and ESS with the whole school, in an event that emphasizes the fun and creativity in engineering.
