A National Engineering Month Ontario welcome message Ontario Society of Professional Engineers:

National Engineering Month (NEM) is Canada’s biggest celebration of engineering, with over 500 interactive events and activities taking place across the country. NEM celebrates the engineering profession’s achievements and inspires young Canadians to become the next generation of problem solvers.

The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) is proud to collaborate as a founding partner of NEM Ontario. NEM is an opportune time to invite students to explore engineering career possibilities, while discovering their own skillsets and passions. Interactive activities help students connect their education in science, technology engineering and math (STEM) to real world situations, where they can see firsthand how using this knowledge can make a difference.

Every year, a number of exciting events lift the province into the engineering spirit:

  • Educational workshops encourage participants of all ages to partake in hands-on engineering-themed activities
  • Conferences spark discussions about the important issues impacting engineers in the province
  • Purple Power challenges Ontario’s engineering students to take the Rube Goldberg concept to a whole new level as they work together to light up the CN Tower purple
  • Nothin’ but NEM with the Toronto Raptors and Celebrate NEM with the Ottawa Senators generates excitement during fun evenings of networking with fellow engineering professionals

The impact and reach of NEM continues to grow every year and I look forward to participating in the 2016 activities. None of these incredible events and accomplishments would be possible without the dedicated guidance of the NEM Ontario Steering Committee, the hard work and passion of countless volunteers, and the engaged participation of Ontarians who are eager to embrace everything the engineering profession has to offer. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, so I thank all of you for your commitment to making March a fun and educational month for everyone involved.

Be sure to check out this year’s line-up of events to discover what’s happening in your area and how you can get involved in NEM 2016. Let’s continue to work together to raise awareness about the invaluable contributions that Ontario’s engineers make every day.

Sincerely,
