Global Engineering Week at the University of Toronto
March 11 - March 16
Global Engineering Week (GE Week) at the University of Toronto is a week-long initiative in March that immerses engineering students from all disciplines to global issues and multidisciplinary thinking. GE Week kicks off with the AI & Big Data: The Future of Global Development speaker panel, where a Google engineer, business executive, and director from the World Bank Group will gather to discuss the applications of these emerging technologies to global development. Students will be able to participate in Q&A and connect with the speakers over refreshments. Throughout the week, GE Week will partner with over 30 engineering courses at U of T to immerse students in global issues in the classroom through various case studies and assignments. The GE Fair hosts a day of interactive activities aimed at raising awareness about the sustainable development goals. The week culminates in Hack the Globe, a social impact hackathon that brings together 150 students to build a business case and technical solution that tackles Canada’s largest social challenges.
