Global Engineering Fair (GE Fair)
March 13 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
This year, Global Engineering Fair (GE Fair) is hosted in collaboration with other major UofT student bodies from Arts & Science and Engineering including the Fair Trade Committee, Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), Sustainable Engineering Association (SEA), Engineers Without Borders (EWB), and the Centre for Global Engineering (CGEN). GE Fair is a free, day-long event that exposes students to some of the most pressing and complex problems and educates students on the topics of develoPMent, multidisciplinary thinking, and sustainability in a global context through interactive gAMes, activities, and challenges including building a 3D-printed wind turbine and a hands-on AMbulance response optimization gAMe.
We incorporate real-life case studies obtained from research organizations and centres like CGEN, including studies on emergency response optimization, water and energy, and food fortification, into short gAMes (~5 to 10 minutes). Students can drop by our booths throughout the day, play one or more of these gAMes while getting a crash course on these subjects and become exposed to some of the most pressing challenges faced by communities in developing countries. Students will get a chance to be entered into a raffle as well as some food/snacks after completing an activity.
