Bridge Building Challenge
The annual Bridge Building Challenge operated by the PEO Mississauga Chapter will be held on Saturday, March 23rd 2019. All teams that register will be provided with a kit of 200 popsicle sticks, white school glue, and a set of rules. The challenge will be to research and create a design for a bridge and then build it from the supplied kit of popsicle sticks. On the day of the event, teams will bring their assembled bridge and give a short presentation about it in front of a panel of judges who are all Engineers. Their bridge will then be tested on a bridge buster and it will record the load that the bridge is supporting at the moment it breaks. However, the strength of the bridge is only one component in the total score since other aspects about the bridge including design technique, construction quality, creativity and even aesthetics will be evaluated by the judges.
