13 events during March and April
March 2 - April 5
Annualy since 2006, Thousand Islands Chapter PEO in partnership with teachers and as many as 13 schools within the Upper Canada District School Board has held a series of Popsicle Stick Bridge Building competitions throughout the month of March. These competitions are held in-school during school hours and in many cases involve the entire staff and student body. Because the month of March has only 3 full weeks of class time due to “March Break” we are limited to 12 available school days on which to hold these in-school competitions because we must also allow for the potential of “Snow Days”. This busy event calendar culminates with two additional events in the first week of April. The first being our “Regional Championship” which is scheduled for April 3rd, in which teams from each school who participated during March send their best Teams to compete against other schools to determine the Regional Champion. The second being the Rideau St. Lawrence Science Fair in which organizers, teachers and Science Fair volunteers compete.
