The 57th Annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) is approaching! Judging Day for BASEF 2017 sponsored by ArcelorMittal Dofasco will be on Friday, March 31st, at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON.

For 57 years, BASEF has provided a forum for students in the Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk, Brant, and Six Nations areas to develop their scientific skills and prepare for national and international competition. This year there will be several new awards for 2017.

ArcelorMittal  Dofasco will provide a new single prize of $1,000 for the best project on any aspect of steelmaking or steel products.

High  school students competing at BASEF have the opportunity to win one of five all-expenses paid prizes to the prestigious 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California.

BASEF expects that at the 2017 fair, there will be in excess of $200,000 worth of prizes, awards and scholarships to be won.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco and Mohawk College are both sponsors of this year’s NEM 2017 campaign. They see the benefit of inspiring the next generation of engineers and technology professionals. We’re very grateful to them for not only contributing to our campaign but also for helping us drive society forward through enticing young creative thinkers to research and explore STEM. Please visit the science fair at the end of the month if you are in the greater Hamilton area at the end of the month.
